Diet? Not Again! is a long-forgotten blog, begun years ago by Pathway to Mindfulness co-founder Val Foster and then forgotten until March, 2018 when we decided to resurrect it.
We have learned over the years that losing weight truly is about fixing what is in our thoughts and emotions, and should not be measured by the numbers on the scale. It is about embracing mindfulness, but it is so much more than so many of the mindful eating programs that teach smaller plates, lots of food chewing and never eating in front of the TV.
All those tips are fine, but very few of us live in a monastery.
Our approach is about getting a handle on eating, which we will be chronicled in our blog. And we promise to make the journey not only educational, but easy to follow, one baby step at a time.
Just one caveat: If you are looking to shed pounds, don’t expect this to be a quick fix. But keep in mind two things:
1. You didn’t gain all the weight you want to lose overnight.
2. For every pound you lose, it takes four pounds of pressure off your knees. So when you drop a quarter pound, instead of thinking “is that all,” consider it as a pound off your knees — and one stick of butter.
